It is called by many names: integrative medicine, multi-modial approach, balance of eastern and western medicine, etc.  Whatever you call it, it is an approach to better health for your pets.  At Paws 'N Claws Veterinary Clinic we use every means available to improve the quality of life for your pet.  Alternative medicine to us, is to continue to research your pets problems and find alternative treatments, whatever they may be.  Then we evaluate the possibilities, discuss them with you and formulate a plan together to obtain the best possible outcome for your pets.

Acupuncture by definition is the Chinese practice of piercing specific areas of the body along peripheral nerves with fine needles to relieve pain, to induce surgical anesthesia, and for therapeutic purposes.  It has shown very promising results in many areas.  Throughout the veterinary community there are many who believe that acupuncture and eastern medicine are better then many western treatments.  We use them both.  Acupuncture is used to modify many of the neurological pathways in the body.  The goal is to obtain a balance or harmony of the system.

If your pet has a condition, acupuncture may be recommended as a possible therapy.  If you have further questions regarding alternative medicine, please contact our office.
